Apple Stack Cake

My grandmother, aunt, and mother-in-law all made the best apple stack cakes. They used real dried apples
for the cooked filling between the layers. I just use a jar of apple butter.

My mother, grandmother and aunts made dried apple stack cakes. I loved them. I never thought about using apple butter for the filling. The ladies in my family made them the same way as our fellow Berean, Sidney Farr, did in the link you provided. I love to read her Applachian recipe book "More Than Moonshine."
