Civil War Era Knitting


Here is a another knitting project I plan to start and never finish. It is a Civil War era sontag or bosom friend. The sontag was a common article of women's clothing. It was worn for warmth, and tied leaving the arms free.

    I think they used it to hold or carry things in as they worked. And you are not the only one who does not like to assemble squares. There are many out there with the same dislike. But no craft has features that are all good. Each one I have ever done had something to it that I did not like. Assembly of squares is the least evil of all of them. Smile!
